Marymount School of New York is an all-girls, private Catholic school. It is a college preparatory school focused on the development of lifelong skills of critical thinking and problem solving.
While Marymount is rooted in Catholic tradition, the school welcomes students of all backgrounds and faiths. It encourages students to develop and nurture their own spiritual identity while respecting those with differing views. The religious aspect of the curriculum focuses on teaching students about social justice and various religious traditions, scripture, and moral/ethical questions. All students take time to reflect during weekly chapel services, masses, class retreats and service programs. The religious program also includes preparation for the sacraments of First Eucharist, Reconciliation and Confirmation.
Part of Marymount’s mission is service learning. Service learning is a method of teaching, learning and reflecting that combines academic work and philanthropy in the community. The activities completed during service learning support the key principles of Catholic Social Teaching.
